Verantwortungsvolles Handeln ist in der HR Group ein selbstverständlicher Teil unserer Philosophie.
Corporate Social Responsibility
The purpose of corporate social responsibility (CSR) is to promote and support the public good. Projects of relevance for society and social projects have long been part and parcel of the HR Group’s corporate activities. Taking on social and ecological responsibility is part of the guiding principle of the company’s policy. Currently, the HR Group is involved in a large number of CSR projects, ranging from small initiatives that help individuals through to fundamental changes that improve the environmental and living conditions of an entire region.
Being one of the largest enterprises in the European footwear industry, the group of companies places great importance on the maintenance of social standards in the supplying countries. To ensure the steady improvement of social benefits at the production sites, the HR Group has been a member of the BSCI – the Business Social Compliance Initiative – since 2007. This is a control system for business enterprises, associations, importers and manufacturing companies. The HR Group’s code of conduct corresponds to that of the BSCI. It is in agreement with the conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of the United Nations, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The guidelines of the code of conduct ensure adherence to social standards in production and are an integral part of the supplier contracts.
Quality for the protection of health
The demands that the HR Group places on itself include delivering not only excellent product quality, but also merchandise which contains no substances that are harmful or impair the consumer’s health as defined by EU directives and German legislation. To avoid hazardous substances in all materials used by the Group, it has put a comprehensive quality management system in place in collaboration with its suppliers. In order to avoid harmful substances, our shoes are specifically tested by certified laboratories for ingredients that are hazardous to health or that could impair health. This is done in close cooperation with our suppliers. Thereby, we test for more than the requirements prescribed by law in Germany and Europe. Our mandatory requirements are also based on the latest scientific findings and are continuously adapted to technological developments.
CADS – Cooperation for Assuring Defined Standards for shoe and leather goods production e. V.
The HR Group is a founding member of the CADS initiative for avoiding toxic substances in leather and leather products. The group of companies has thus taken an important step towards footwear and leather products being free from harmful substances for the long term.
Scientific partners of the initiative are the test and research institute PFI Prüf- und Forschungsinstitut Pirmasens e. V. and numerous other experts from the world of science, authorities, test labs, industry and medicine. The HR Group organises numerous seminars and continuing education and training events at an international level jointly with these partners, in order to convey to manufacturers and suppliers the knowledge that is required for avoiding harmful substances in shoe and leather production.
3E – the children’s shoe system
About one in three children does not wear shoes that fit. This constitutes a serious health hazard – a fact which prompted Reno as early as 2002 to significantly expand its active involvement in the children’s shoe segment. An entirely new children’s shoe system was developed through constant research in cooperation with the University Hospital of Tübingen and the Chemnitz University of Technology. This system gives parents greater certainty of finding fitting shoes for their child, thus promoting the healthy development of the child’s feet.
Constant research in the field of children’s feet and footwear is of special concern to Reno. The world’s largest foot-measuring study was conducted in 2008. Jointly with the Chemnitz University of Technology, 340,000 children’s feet were measured and the results analysed. This representative study has confirmed the scientific relevance and correctness of the 3E children’s shoe system. In 2009, a patent was granted for the 3E children’s shoe system. The company is currently continuing its research with the dynamic measurement of children’s feet.
The 3E children’s shoe system provides parents and children with comprehensive support in purchasing fitting children's shoes.
All branches of Reno are equipped with modern 3D foot measuring scanners. The feet of the child should be measured prior to any shoe purchase. The result of the measurement shows the actual length and width of the foot.Real size
Unfortunately, shoe sizes are not standardised. As a result, shoe sizes may vary considerably depending on manufacturer, production and material. To make sure the children’s shoes have the correct size, all children’s shoes are measured manually upon receipt and marked with the real size. This way parents can be certain that the shoe actually fits.Real fit
Just as harmful as shoes that are too small or too large are shoes that are too wide or too tight. Therefore, the HR Group has developed the bama kids real fit shoes. They are available in three different fits: mini for slim feet, midi for normal feet and maxi for sturdy feet.
